For those of you who don't know me, my name is Laurel Ramey. This will be my second year doing the Let's Jog Their Memory - Alzheimer's Run. I am 15, and am halfway through me 9th grade year. Read on to learn a little bit about Alzheimer's
Alzheimer's is not a effect of just aging! So, don't think that for another second! Alzheimer's is deterioration of the brain. Alzheimer's is a type of dementia and counts for an average of 70% of all dementia cases. Alzheimer's worsens over time! It starts with forgetting minor details like a word or two or directions or retelling stories - forgetting you've already said it. Then as it goes on Alzheimer's starts to make you forget more important thing like details of your childhood, details of your kids childhood, and details of your grandkids childhood.
As it worsens more you will start to forget your family members. Alzheimer's is not nice about how it does it either, you can forget your daughter but remember your son and law. That isn't good! Eventually you will forget how to function and it will lead to the end. Alzheimer's is sometimes compared to a wave. It cannot be stopped. I am now calling on you to help me to find a way to stop Alzheimer's. STOP THE WAVE!
